Abbotsford School District services a wide and dispersed audience within the city of Abbotsford (pop. 134,000). The District’s 46 schools are attended by almost 18,500 full and part time students at 30 elementary schools, 8 middle schools, one combined middle-secondary school, and seven secondary schools. In addition, the District has a virtual school, an Aboriginal education centre, an International student program, and offers continuing education courses and an annual summer school.
Besides being one of the fastest growing communities in BC and Canada, Abbotsford is also the third most ethnically and culturally diverse community in Canada. As the largest employer in the city, the Abbotsford School District employs approximately 2,100 full and part time teaching and support staff who are committed to providing learners of all ages and abilities with a range of choices and the best possible educational support.
